Abstract

Education is pivotal to the development of the emerging economics of the world. The effectiveness of educational activities is equally the key to sustaining these development strides. This is why every well meaning government formulates policies and organizes programmes that enhance the teaching and learning process thereby fostering the full realization of her educational aims and objectives. Effective teaching and learning has no doubt helped in  equipping students with the necessary knowledge, skills and competences that empowers them for sustainable livelihood and somewhat translate to overall national development. It is against this backdrop that this paper broadly examines the topic; Equipping Students through Effective Teaching and Learning for Sustainable Development in Nigeria. It also considers the concepts of Education, Effective Teaching and Learning Process, Productivity in Educational Institutions and how it facilitates the attainment of sustainable development goals in relation to economic growth and development of Nigeria.
