Abstract

This study investigated ways of promoting entrepreneurship education for rural women through community education for sustainable development in Orumba Local Government Area of Anambra state Nigeria. Three research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. A 12 item questionnaire was developed and administered to 400 registered members of Orumba Development union (women’s wing). The data collected were analyzed using means and standard deviation for the research questions and t-test statistics for the hypotheses. The researchers found out that the content of entrepreneurship education included vocational training, functional literacy skills, skill acquisition, apprenticeship training among others. It was also found out that the methods of delivering entrepreneurship education among the women included seminars, conferences, symposium, role play among others. The study also found out that benefits of entrepreneurship education include self reliance, economic growth, promotes functional literacy, personal independence among others. Recommendations made included among others that entrepreneurship education is a necessity as well as community education. Therefore, women should be encouraged to participate actively so as to foster development rapidly.
