ENSURING QUALITY ASSURANCE AND QUALITY CONTROL IN ADMINISTERING ENGLISH LANGUAGE EXAMINATIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract
Nigeria is an English Speaking country and English Language is its official language. The importance of English Language to Nigeria and its educational process especially cannot be over emphasized. The current poor quality in education could be linked to the poor standard in quality assurance and quality control in administering English language examinations, as the quality of examinations determine the quality of learners. The quality of English language examinations determine the standard of education and the quality of the products of learning institutions at all levels, and their contributions to national development. This paper takes a look at certain practices that constitute hindrance to quality assurance and control in administering English language examinations, as well as measures which could help mitigate the practices.
